What
is
Youth
Adda?
"Youth Adda is non-partisan, non-stigmatising and a safe platform to discuss solutions by engaging on issues head-on and building up conversations of change that often break the barriers and lead to action on sustainable development goals"
Through Youth Adda, we aim to unite and amplify young civic voices and give a platform to mix art and activism, which makes the whole civic engagement fun. Adding to that, we encourage the active participation of adults in the whole process, so don't hesitate and tell your grumpy neighborhood uncle to register for the next Youth Adda near you!

WHY
YOUTH
ADDA?
Well, you all know by this time that India is the World’s fastest growing economy. But do you know that Youth constitutes a major role in this progress? Youth constitutes a 36% share of the total population while social spaces for supporting youth aspirations that exist for Youth in India are still scarce. Currently, there are more than 800 million people below the age of 35, which is a staggering figure considering the opportunities and investment in terms of human capital and direct finance available to harness the power of this growing youth population. In India, the greater problem lies in the ever-growing share of adolescents between 10-24 years. According to the United Nations Population Division, in 2015, we housed more than 242 million people in the same age group. The aspirations of not even a single young person can be overlooked in the whole development dialogue. We are not here to spread an environment of hatred or negativity. We just want to ensure the correct action is taken as far as inclusivity of Youth in systems is concerned.
Adding to that, the demographic dividend thus created by the largest pool of working age population in the World has largely been able to be of help only for few urban centers and the majority of the young people is still unaware of how the engagement and constructive dialogue can put the power of youth where it belongs.
- "India is going to be the youngest nation in the World for at least the next two decades" according to the World Economic Forum.
- According to United Nations, India and many emerging economies in South Asia and Africa are experiencing an abnormal phenomenon of Youth Bulge which poses great challenges and opportunities at the same time mainly owing to the largest ever group of ambitions, aspirations, and hopes!
- According to the last census in 2011, 27.2% of India’s youth - almost 175 million youngsters - who are not in education, employment or training- That's almost the entire population of Brazil and much more than Russia.
- Youth is highly underrepresented in decision-making bodies, owing to discrimination due to lack of experience and a strong bias towards age. We're here to change the equation.
For E.g. In 2014(16th Lok Sabha), 34% GNI was contributed by youth which has 36% population while only 2% of the parliamentarians in India are under the age of 30
